Soaked flattened parched rice tempered with finely chopped onions freshly squeezed key lime green thai chillies curry leaves assortment of vegetables salt sugar whole n powdered mild spices n garnished with deepfried fine seived noodles n cilantro (mixed vegetables onion poha) & a cup of Indian spiced tea (masala chaa) for Sunday brunch at Patels kitchen!Vegetables (onions potatoes beans corn green peas n carrots) split husked pegion peas lentil n basmati rice spiced hotchpotch drizzled with clarified unsalted butter (Whagareli Khichadi – a very famous staple Gujarati recipe cooked atleast once a week in every Gujarati household), sliced white onions, roasted sundried rice lentil flats (sakeli Khichu papadi-this is made once a year during a sunny day and then preserved at room temperature… it could be toasted in microwave or on charcoal for Smokey taste or could be deep fried in oil), shorgum flour clay pan toasted flats (jowar rotla), shredded jaggery (gor) & homemade yogurt stirred spiced buttermilk tempered in cumin seeds n spices (whagareli chaas) for Sunday dinner at my parents home in Markham!!
